Janine Mulone, the owner of Feel Good Retail, introduces herself this way on her website: “For the last decade, I’ve supported indie retail entrepreneurs through moments of growth – new locations, going digital, testing physical, funding, building community and more. There is nothing I am more passionate about than helping retailers like you build strategies and systems that align with what you really want for your business—not what you think you should want.”

Before starting Feel Good Retail, according to a recent interview in Medium, Janine was the head of brand and retail at Brass, where she oversaw the development of brick-and-mortar expansion for this digitally native brand. In this article by Orlando Zayas she shares the five most important things that she feels people should know in order to create a fantastic retail experience:

  1. Embody your values
  2. Be human first
  3. Offer value
  4. Follow up
  5. Be consistent

Feel Good Retail works with clients one-on-one and in workshops, retreats and a “community camp” to help them be more successful. But Janine is generous with her advice even with those who don’t sign on to these paid programs.  She writes a blog available on her website, sends out periodic emails to her mailing list, and produces a podcast called Retail for the Rest of Us.

This podcast, which currently includes 35 episodes, is available at no charge on Spotify, Apple or Google.  As the website says, “in each episode, Janine and her guests discuss the highs and lows of keeping shop, plus the how-tos of taking aligned action, growing your sales (without selling out) and building your community. If you have an independent retail business – in-person, online, on Etsy, through pop-ups or some magical combination, this show was literally made for you.” Enjoy!

Happy retailing,
