There’s a new weekly retail roundup newsletter available to you for free – and its name is a clever play on the shopkeeping term SKU (a stock keeping unit, i.e. a single item of inventory). The SKUPE, which is pronounced scoop, is a recent product of the British-American media and marketing company MVF.  As their website explains, “when customers subscribe or read our content, we gather insights about their interests and purchase intents. We join the dots and build patterns of behavior that connect readers and buyers across our ecosystem to power the growth of our clients.”

They provide newsletters in a wide variety of fields ranging from construction to the business of healthcare. About two years ago, small to mid-market retailing joined their 73 categories. The retail newsletter is edited by Bianco Prieto, with most of the copy written by Marcy Medina. Marcy has over 12 years of experience with WWD (Women’s Wear Daily) covering fashion, retail, tech and entertainment. I recently had the pleasure of chatting with her for this week’s newsletter, and you can read that interview here.

There are dozens of interesting articles available on The SKUPE’s website on topics such as marketing, employees, signage, planning and sustainability. Many are based on Marcy’s Q & A interviews with independent retailers or vendors.

In addition to the content that is generated by The SKUPE’s editorial team, the weekly emails contains links to outside articles of interest to retailers. There are also ads, of course, because this is a commercial venture for MVF.
